Jitty on: Mid-Century Design

👋 Hi friends,
The sun’s out, and we’re chasing properties that feel like they’ve got a rich (recent) history. This week, we’re swooning over homes that are equal parts eccentric and iconic, from waterborne love nests to retro gems that belong in a film. Grab a cocktail and let’s get scrolling.
Home of the week
Not just a house, but a sultry houseboat that’s basically a boudoir on water. Think velvet cushions, mirrored ceilings, and a vibe that says, “I seduced James Bond in 1973 and never looked back.”

Theme of the Week… Mid-Century Design
aka…
We’ve been snooping on your Jitty searches, and you lot are thirsting for mid-century cool. Here’s the cream of the crop.
This one-bedroom flat in Kensington is a modernist-inspired beauty with walnut panelling and floor-to-ceiling windows. But at £2,295/sq ft, it’s punchy. Still, with those floors and façade we’re tempted to go for it.

Over in Thorpe Bay, this house is exactly what we would imagine for Fred Flintstone’s bachelor pad. Stone feature wall, raised carport, and an original avocado-green kitchen that screams 1965. Yabba-dabba-doo, we’re in love.

This Dulwich gem is what happens when a well-behaved classic home gets swept off its feet by a brutalist architect. It’s warm, familiar, and then—bam—a striking concrete overhang. Was this decided over wine and a mood board? We think so.

Someone, please, snap up this Crystal Palace 1 bed flat. £220,000, 504 sq ft, £437/sq ft. It’s a mid-century blank canvas just waiting for a glow-up. Those original teak cabinets deserve a second act. Especially at this price.

Plot Twist

We adore homes that embrace sleek simplicity in nearly every room… then surprise you with that one corner where the owners let their creativity run free. Just look at that luxurious black-and-gold loo in this house in St John’s Wood.
Have a great week and thanks for reading,
