Description

"We love this house. It sits on a quiet road in the Chessels, which means low traffic and easy parking for the area. The view from the loft is something special, giving us beautiful sunsets in the evening and, during the Balloon Fiesta, an amazing view of the balloons going up. The garden is a real sun trap in the summer, and those Friday evenings getting back and firing up the barbecue have always been a joy. We've loved our time here and started our family in this house."

The Home

A three-bedroom Victorian terrace in the Chessels with a loft conversion, open plan living space and views across Bristol from the top floor .

The ground floor starts with a front living room where the bay window, stripped wooden floorboards, ceiling detail and wood burner give the room plenty of character. The living room opens through into the dining room, creating a good flow between the two spaces. It works particularly well for having people over with the dining room leading through towards the kitchen and garden.

The kitchen has been recently updated and is fitted with a high-spec Samsung dual oven and induction hob along with plenty of storage and worktop space. Beyond this is a separate utility room with a downstairs WC, keeping the practical side of the house tucked away from the main living areas.

On the first floor are two good-sized double bedrooms and the family bathroom. The top floor was converted in 2024 to create a generous third bedroom, with velux windows, useful eaves storage and a WC on the same level. The elevated position is a real highlight with wide views across Bristol that are particularly good at sunset and during the Balloon Fiesta.

Outside Space

The rear garden is a great little sun trap and has been set up with a paved seating area and enough room for a table, barbecue and plants.

For the current owners it has been the spot for summer evenings and Friday night barbecues, while the quieter road and limited through-traffic make the house feel nicely tucked away. Parking is also relatively straightforward for the area and the Chessels location puts North Street and the wider Bedminster area within easy reach.

Living in Bedminster

Hengaston Street is a quiet residential street located in the Chessels. The house lies close to North Street, a hub for local independents, restaurants, and shops, including Michelin recommended COR and OTHER, coffee shops Sweven and Burra, and The Tobacco Factory a cafe, bar, and theatre that also hosts a bustling Sunday market.

Several parks surround Palmyra Road, with South Street Park a few streets away and the larger Greville Smyth Park a 10 minute walk. Just beyond Greville Smyth (a further 20 minutes) is the sprawling Ashton Court Estate - home to the annual Bristol Balloon Fiesta and 850 acres of wood and grassland.
