244 Garahellie is a part Owner/occupied and part tenanted croft extending to approximately 1.37ha (3.39 acres).
This croft is located next to the A865 Daliburgh road. An underground electricity supply, the public water mains and a public sewer all cross the property close to the public road.
There is a decrofted house site for which planning consent in principle was obtained in 2010 under reference 10/00444/PPP which has now expired.

Agricultural and Forestry Grants - the croftland is registered with SGRPID and is eligible to receive agricultural and woodland grants under current Scottish Government schemes.
A prospective purchaser should note that this croft land is regulated by the Crofting Commission.
This means that the successful purchaser/assignee is agreeing to abide by certain duties with regard to the croft land. These duties are:
• A duty to be ordinarily resident on, or within 32km (20 miles) of your croft
• A duty to cultivate and maintain your croft or put it to another purposeful use
• A duty not to misuse or neglect your croft.
In addition, there is a legal requirement to return an Annual Notice to the Crofting Commission each year, confirming whether or not you adhere to these duties. Croft 244 Garaheillie is situated on the coast at
the West of the Island of South Uist close to the
Askernish Golf Course – www.askernishgolfclub.
com South Uist has white shell-sand beaches to the
west and heather uplands dominated by Beinn
Kenneth to the east. The 20 miles of machair that
runs alongside the sand dunes provide a marvellous
habitat for the rare Corncrake. Golden Eagles, Red
Grouse and Red Deer can be seen on the mountain
slopes to the east.
Lochboisdale is the main settlement of South Uist,
served by ferry to Mallaig/Oban on the mainland.
South Uist can be reached by ferry from Oban via
Barra or from Uig on Skye to Lochmaddy or by the
smaller ferry which weaves its way through the small islets of the Sound of Harris between Leverburgh on Harris to Berneray, connected by (non-tidal allweather) causeways via Benbecula to South Uist and from the Barra ferry in Eriskay.
