Description

Set within a charming semi-detached Victorian house, this bright and well-presented apartment offers stylish, low-maintenance living in one of De Beauvoir’s most desirable residential pockets.

Positioned in a quiet, leafy setting and set back from the main road, the home feels wonderfully peaceful while remaining brilliantly connected. To the front of the apartment, a spacious open-plan living area is flooded with natural light, creating a welcoming space to relax, dine and entertain. The apartment is complemented by a modern fitted kitchen and a contemporary bathroom, both finished to a smart, clean-lined standard. The building itself is beautifully maintained, with a strong sense of community and many long-term owners.

The second bedroom is a real bonus and offers excellent flexibility, working perfectly as a home office, nursery or a single bedroom as previously used. Views from both aspects enjoy a lovely sense of greenery and privacy, particularly in the warmer months when the surrounding trees are in full bloom. To the rear, residents also benefit from access to gated off-street parking, with additional space for bike storage and a shared private garden.

Perfectly positioned for commuting and exploring the best of East London, Buckingham Road is served by excellent bus links on nearby Southgate Road and Balls Pond Road, providing easy access to the City and beyond. It’s also ideal for cyclists, with a quick and direct route into the City. The area offers a fantastic lifestyle with a brilliant selection of local pubs, cafés and restaurants in De Beauvoir, along Southgate Road and around Newington Green. Islington, Highbury, Dalston, Hoxton, Shoreditch and Old Street are all within easy reach.

Offered with the added advantage of share of freehold, this is a superb opportunity to secure a characterful period home in a prime East London location.

Owners’ insights

What do you love about your home?
We loved how light and airy the flat feels the moment you walk in. It’s incredibly bright throughout the day and has such a fresh, open feel, with high ceilings and tall sash windows that really maximise the sense of space. The open-plan living area is spacious and works perfectly for everyday living as well as having friends over, and the architect-designed storage keeps everything feeling calm and uncluttered.

The second bedroom was also a huge bonus for us. We used it as a home office which worked brilliantly, but it’s also large enough to be used as a single bedroom, which the previous owners did. The flat is also wonderfully peaceful, especially at the rear, so it always felt like a calm retreat despite being so well connected.

Why are you selling?
We’ve moved back home to New Zealand, so it’s simply the right time for us to sell.

What do you love about the area?
De Beauvoir has the perfect balance of being leafy and residential while still being close to the buzz of East London. Weekends were our favourite. We’d pop down to De Beauvoir Deli, then head for a walk along the canal, which is such a lovely way to switch off and feel like you’ve escaped the city without leaving London.

We also love the local pub and restaurant scene. Having Hector’s wine bar opposite is such a treat for an easy drink, and The Scolt Head at the end of Ardleigh Road has always been one of our favourites too. On top of that, the transport links are excellent, with loads of bus routes nearby making it really easy to get into the City and around Islington, Dalston, Shoreditch and beyond.
