Description
"My family moved into this house over 30 years ago and loved it right from the start. It has been a wonderful family home, and I will be very sad to leave it. Over the years we have made changes to the property to reflect our changing needs whilst always keeping original features. We have enjoyed many gatherings in the house, in the street with neighbours and in Perret's park. New Year's eve and the balloon fiesta are highlights. Wells road has established independent shops, bars and restaurants plus great transport links. The street is characterised by a strong sense of community and a love of these beautiful homes. The green spaces nearby are brilliant, especially Arnos Vale, where there is always a new path to explore."
The home
A much loved four bedroom family home on Brecknock Road. The house has a large reception room to the front of the house with a period fireplace, stripped wooden floors and bay window letting in masses of light. There is a second living room in the middle of the house which leads to a downstairs bathroom and could easily be doubled upped as a guest bedroom. The kitchen is at the rear and is a great size with plenty of units including an original dresser and space for a dining table. Upstairs are three bedrooms and the family bathroom with separate WC. The loft was converted when the house was built and makes an excellent fourth bedroom.
The outside
The pretty rear garden has a patio area including a pretty Victorian path and some lovely mature shrubs and trees.
Living in Knowle
One of the real benefits of this house is the amount and variety of parks and green spaces within a short distance. Redcatch Park and Community Garden, Perrett's Park and Arnos Vale Cemetery, with its popular Atrium Caf, are all within 10 minutes' walk from the house. The expansive Victoria Park and Callington Road Nature Reserve are also nearby, providing brilliant open spaces for the summer or for walking the dog all year round. The ever-popular Hillcrest Primary is just a few minutes' walk away, as is the Totterdown Children's Community Workshop which provides high-quality wraparound care. The area is easily commutable from Bristol City Centre, which is approximately 30 minutes' walk, or a short cycle or bus journey down Wells Road. The area also has lots of amenities on the doorstep with Wells Road recently becoming home to more and more popular bars, cafes and restaurants. The Oxford is as well-respected music venue and the Knowle Pub is within easy reach, providing the ideal locals' pub for food and drink and is a great spot for a Sunday lunch or a beer in the garden.
