We have absolutely loved living here. It’s been such a perfect family home and we’ll really miss the lifestyle. It’s so lovely and quiet, and because there’s so much space it’s given us the freedom to spread out and properly enjoy it. Family BBQs, big Christmases, all the best moments have happened here. We just hope the next owners love it as much as we have.

Retreat Farm is one of those homes that makes you pause the moment you arrive. The high ceilings throughout give the house an incredible sense of space, but it never feels cold or cavernous. It feels warm, welcoming, and easy to live in, just with room to breathe.

The main living room is full of character, centred around a striking full height inglenook fireplace with an open fire. It’s easy to imagine winter evenings in here, the fire going, the house glowing, family gathered together, snuggled in front of a movie.

The kitchen is the heart of the home in the truest sense. With an Aga alongside an additional cooker, plenty of space for dining, and that welcoming farmhouse feel, it’s a room made for everyday life as much as entertaining.

And one of the loveliest, most practical features of the house is how well it works behind the scenes. The utility room can be accessed both from the kitchen and directly from the entrance hall, which is exactly what you want in a busy family home. At the entrance hall end, there’s built in storage for coats and shoes, along with a ground floor shower room, perfect after a countryside walk or when guests are staying.

The utility side itself is brilliantly set up, with space for white goods including a washing machine and dryer, built in units for storage, and the airing cupboard neatly tucked away too. It’s one of those areas that keeps everyday life organised and effortless.

Despite the calm, you’re never cut off from everyday life. Uppingham is just a short ten minute drive away for schools, independent cafés, shops, pubs and all the essentials. It’s a market town with real character and community at its heart, known for its galleries, local events and that wonderful countryside town feel.

Oakham is also close by, offering even more options for shopping and socialising, along with a railway station connecting into Leicester and Peterborough. Stamford, with its Georgian streets, boutique shops and brilliant restaurants, is also easily accessible for weekend outings or leisurely afternoons wandering.

For families, the schooling options nearby are excellent, with Leighfield Primary School and Uppingham Church of England Primary within easy reach, and Uppingham Community College providing secondary education locally.

And while life here feels wonderfully rural, it remains brilliantly connected. Major roads such as the A47 link you into the wider region, bringing Leicester, Peterborough and beyond within comfortable reach, making commuting or travel straightforward.
