We Made Our Map Impossible to Miss

Jitty has always had two search modes: List View and Map View. But during user research, we kept hearing the same thing: a lot of people didn’t even realise the map was there. Some left the site entirely because they wanted a map and couldn’t find one.
We could’ve slapped a bigger “View Map” button on the page, but that would’ve been a weak patch on a deeper visibility issue. So we took a better route by making the map part of the experience from the start.
What’s new
We’ve embedded a mini-map directly into the search results. You don’t have to switch views or click anything to see where the homes are, how many listings match, or how they’re spread across the area. It’s all right there, in context, as you scroll.
If that’s enough, great. If you want to dive deeper, the full Map View is still one click away.
Why this matters
This solves two things at once. First, it makes the map impossible to miss, so users who prefer to search visually aren’t left hanging. Second, it gives everyone a quick spatial snapshot by default, which adds valuable context to every listing without adding friction.
It also does something counterintuitive: by surfacing the map earlier, it might reduce how often people need to open it. You get just enough geo context to decide what’s worth clicking into.
Combined with Travel Time search, our recent H3 update and a few spicy updates coming soon. we’re quietly building the most powerful and flexible map-based search experience in the UK.
