Gallery Photos Sorted by Room

When you’re browsing properties, photos matter. They are often the only way to get a true sense of what a home looks and feels like. They can be the difference between booking a viewing or scrolling straight past.

Until now, photos on most property portals were shown in the random order agents uploaded them. With some listings containing dozens of images, it is easy to lose track of where you are. A few agents group them, but many simply upload them without any organisation.

We have fixed that.

What it does

When you click into a property’s photo gallery, you will see a sorted gallery view designed to make exploring a property faster and clearer.

• At the top, there is an overview with a preview image for each group, so you can see every section of the property at a glance.
• Clicking one of these groups will take you straight to that part of the gallery.
• Below, all photos are grouped by room or section of the home:
  • Living rooms with living rooms
  • Kitchens with kitchens
  • Bedrooms with bedrooms
• If you have used an embedding filter, the gallery will automatically scroll to the first matching image, so you can jump straight to what you searched for, like “pink walls.”

This makes it easy to explore each space in context and focus on the parts of a property that matter most to you.

Why it matters

By grouping photos this way, you get a clearer picture of how a home actually fits together. You are no longer scrolling through a jumble of images. You can move room by room, compare spaces more easily, and get a better feel for whether a property is worth viewing in person.

This is not a flashy feature, but it is the kind of small quality improvement that makes a big difference over time. It is one of many changes we are making to create the best possible experience for buyers, helping you focus on finding the home that is right for you.

Why we built it

Every month we run a hack day called Jit Pickin, where our engineers and even some non-engineers get one day to build whatever they want. This idea came from Rita, and she built it in a single day. She smashed it and won a 3D-printed banana for her troubles (yes, really).

Room-sorted photos might not be the loudest feature, but it makes property browsing smoother, clearer and much closer to how you actually think about a home.
