Now we’re launching Search by Photo, the first tool in the world that lets you upload a picture and find homes that look like it. It works like a reverse image search, but built for homes. Your photo is compared to millions of property images across the UK to find the closest match.

Here’s how to find a house based on a picture, whether it’s one you’ve taken yourself or found online.

There are two ways to try Search by Photo. One for inspiration. One for discovery.

Option 1: BYOP — Bring Your Own Photo

Go to any search page on Jitty and tap the magic photo upload button next to the 'Filters' button.

Upload a picture from your camera roll, Pinterest, or anywhere else, and Jitty will scan the market for listings that look like your image.

Perfect if you’re starting with a style in mind. A a bold Victorian terrace, a leafy balcony, or that minimalist home you can’t stop thinking about.

Option 2: Pictures like this

When you’re viewing a photo on a listing — maybe it’s a standout exterior detail, a sunlit kitchen, or an aggressively tasteful bookshelf — you’ll see a small button that says Pictures like this.

Click it and Jitty instantly finds more homes with that same look.

Now you can search by any photo you see on Jitty, without uploading anything.

Both paths give you new ways to explore. One lets you bring inspiration from anywhere. The other helps you find hidden gems in real time.

3. How it works under the hood

When you upload a photo, Jitty’s AI converts it into a kind of digital fingerprint.

Each property image in our database is already stored this way, as a dense embedding, a high-dimensional vector that represents what’s visually inside the image. Think of it as plotting every house photo on an invisible map. Homes that look alike sit close together on that map, even if they’re in different postcodes.

When you search, we locate the nearest neighbours to your image: the properties sitting closest to it in that visual space. The result is a shortlist of real homes that share the same aesthetic cues as your upload.

Behind the scenes, we use a multimodal AI model that processes both text and images together. The model weighs how visually similar two homes are, blends that with their descriptions, and ranks the results for relevance and speed. The system runs on vector search infrastructure that indexes millions of property embeddings, allowing instant lookups without reprocessing each image. It’s fast, precise, and keeps improving as new homes appear on the market.
